Recent research has revealed the fastest airports in Britain, reports Mail Online. It’s now possible to pick an airport to travel from, based on their turnaround time.
The study conducted how long it would take passengers to enter the airport and make their way to their gate. Birmingham topped the pile, with their service getting travellers into the building and to the gate within 15 minutes. Skyscanner studied over 200 airports and came up with results to determine the fastest hubs in the world.
There are multiple tips and also potential setbacks when carrying out the airport’s typical procedures. It’s not always as easy as flying through your checks and services. What airports are the fastest in the UK?
The UK’s Fastest Airports
The aforementioned, Birmingham Airport is the Midlands hub for travelling to a foreign destination, and they made themselves proud with the fastest service in Britain.
- Birmingham
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
- Bristol
- Heathrow
Skyscanner’s research revealed two Scottish airports after Birmingham. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow were second and third respectively. Most of their passengers made their way from the entrance to their gate under the 30-minute mark and mostly close to 15 minutes. Birmingham managed first place by ensuring that a huge 37 percent of their passengers made it from one end to the other in quarter of an hour. It’s a pretty impressive coup from the Midland’s airport and it will no doubt encourage them as they gear up for the £100m investment coming their way. Another noticeable feat was that London’s Heathrow Airport managed to place in the top five during this study. Despite the busy nature of the airport it still managed a quick protocol for all travelling consumers.
Potential Hold Up
There are potential flaws in the research and also aspects that cannot be factored in correctly. Those with children are likely to hang around and also take longer to make it through the airport. There are many others too, such as time of the day and whether it might be something that the customer has done to slow the recorded time down. They could unintentionally forget to take their laptop out of the hand luggage, their belt off and many other elements. It is thought that 41 percent of hold-ups are down to security checks.
