The innovative concept from Colombus Direct is now being showcased in the UK. Newcastle Airport is the first in England to introduce digital kiosks enabling travellers to purchase insurance before flying.

According to Chronicle Live Newcastle is one of nine UK airports to utilise this new-age kiosk. London Gatwick carried out the initial trial and after delight from both the Airport and the digital experts that created the kiosk, it will now be brandished around Britain. Other airports include London, Birmingham, Luton, Bristol, East Midlands, Southampton and Edinburgh.

Why Should Airports Feature This Invention?

This machine is an ingenious creation sure to attract attention from travellers. The stats speak for themselves as many people who jet off do it without adequate cover. Unfortunately many pay for it too, quite literally! So for any people who rushed their organisation and have some hours to waste- they can take to this new invention and cover themselves and the family. Services at airports seem to be on the rise, it’s already common for travellers to exchange their currency and purchase rentals. Last year almost a quarter of people visiting a different country did so without insurance. In 2014, travel insurers paid out £370m on medical treatment.

This new thought allows all people to get their cover as a last minute option and is easily done. For anyone who doesn’t make the right preparations beforehand, this will come as great news.

How Does It Work?

It’s as easy as you probably imagined, it’s the same as being able to do it online. Although this is easier with a user-friendly interface and a big screen. Input your details including, address, passport number and trip duration. You’ll be insured before you know it.

Is It A Good Idea?

In short, yes. But ideally all travellers will carry out their preparations in advance meaning you can park up and check-in. It’s easier to have everything done beforehand and this will most likely improve the value too. There are many things that can’t or at least, shouldn’t, be done last minute. One of those thing is parking too. Organise holiday essentials before with Newcastle Airport parking, travel insurance and transfers. Although it’s great to pre-book, the internet makes it increasingly easier to book last minute too. So be sure to organise your transport to and from the airport and the security of your vehicle by simply activating Newcastle Airport parking discount codes.
